It's the one when the two can trust in each other.

Correct!
A good marriage built on mutual trust brings the closest companion and partner to one party whether the other party is at home or outside. After getting married, the man or the woman will never feel alone anymore because he or she knows that there is always someone there who is close to him or her because that someone concerns about him or her.

WOW = Wrong On Whatever
Often, the new couple will find more shortcomings from their spouse after getting married. They sometimes will have a feeling of WOW, i.e. wrong on whatever the other party is doing or is trying to do. This phenomenon is called marriage shock that often leads people to believe that marriage is a tomb of love. The marriage shock is mainly caused by the lack of mutual understanding between two people if they do not live together daily as a couple. There is a saying that says “Distance creates beauty” or “Distance makes hearts fonder.” The distance here not only refers to the spatial or temporal distance but also and most importantly refers to the relationship distance. In this sense, getting married means to cut the distance between the two and thus to reduce the beauty one used to see, i.e., the subjective beauty seen or sensed from the other party.
How does marriage relationship survive from this kind of marriage shock? First, the bridegroom and the bride should learn and adapt the true love, which is patience, tolerance, and compromise. Second, they should explore the different aspects of each other and share their feelings. If couples can understand and trust each other and truly love each other to overcome the period of the initial marriage shock, they can maintain a healthy and a happy marriage for a long, long time.

Most girls feel faint when their boyfriends propose to them because they suddenly find that the distance to get their Mister Right is so short that they can almost touch it.

Incorrect!
The word “boy” is a countable noun that is similar to words such as “book” or “apple”. It requires an article when the word is used in a sentence. For example: “This is a book and that is an apple.”

I don't know about the shortest distance. But I surely have heard of a metaphor of the longest distance, something like
"The longest distance in the world is the one that when I stand in front of you and you don't know I love you".
Sounds sad, doesn't it?

I found the original poem. It's by Tagore.
The Furthest Distance In The World

By Tagore

The furthest distance in the world
is not between life and death
but when I stand in front of you
yet you don’t know that I love you

The furthest distance in the world
is not when I stand in font of you
yet you can’t see my love
but when undoubtedly knowing the love from both
yet cannot be together

The furthest distance in the world
is not being apart while being in love
but when plainly can not resist the yearning
yet pretending you have never been in my heart

The furthest distance in the world
is not  when plainly can not resist the yearning
but using one’s indifferent heart
to dig an uncrossable river
for the one who loves you.

A further "google" search suggests that this poem is not by Tagore, but by a Taiwanese poet, Zhang Xiaoxian.(http://www.phpwind.net/read.php?tid=115000&fpage=1). Read it through and you will find it's fun. Farthest, not furthest distance in the world. The furthest distance in the world.” Some of you may have come across one of the following two posts “The Furthest distance in the World”, “世界上最遥远的距离.” Some BBSes have the Chinese version down as translated from the “English version” while a few even claim the English version as the work of Tagore. Is it really? Let me put the so-called English version down for you to read. Go through it slowly with an eye for faults, and see what you can come up with. The furthest distance in the world The furthest distance in the world Is not between life and death But when I stand in front of you Yet you don’t know that I love you The furthest distance in the world Is not when i stand in font of you Yet you can’t see my love But when undoubtedly knowing the love from both Yet cannot Be together The furthest distance in the world Is not being apart while being in love But when plainly can not resist the yearning Yet pretending You have never been in my heart The furthest distance in the world Is not <-- But using one’s indifferent heart To dig an uncrossable river For the one who loves you The first thing that would strike you is probably the word “furthest.” Your grammar teacher must have told you that for distance, the word should be “farthest.” The second is that the verb “is” is missing after all the “but”s. Granted, with poetic license, you can get away with anything. However, that still does not explain why the sentence is incomplete after “is that” in the last stanza. Having lots of free time on my hands ( I am a retiree), I decided to investigate. Baidu and Google are great help ( BTW: sell Baidu, they are overpriced. Ha Ha. Too late already.) I discovered that the origin of the Chinese version was based on a two line couplet by (I usually will include the source of the information. But my notes got garbled up—a dog ate it—and I no longer have the link. I guess a quick check with Baidu would have done the trick, but I am too lazy to do so.) Anyway. The Chinese version that has been making the rounds on the Internet goes like this: (the part marked with the **** is the missing line in the English version.) -- If you think this is the end of the story, think again. -- Recently, I came across two more of the same “English version”, except this time, the missing line is in place. I have to kick myself on this because I neither copied down the “poem” nor saved the link. But the “second” Chinese version I found, I not only saved the link, but the whole poem as well: http://www.linlins.com/NewMoon/5/2003-08-03-07-32-54.shtml [分享]世界上最遥远的距离 作者:林汐 录入新月于 August 03, 2003 at 07:32:54: 世界上最遥远的距离 不是 生与死的距离 而是 我站在你面前 你不知道我爱你 世界上最遥远的距离 不是 我站在你面前 你不知道我爱你 而是 爱到痴迷 却不能说我爱你 世界上最遥远的距离 不是 我不能说我爱你 而是 想你痛彻心脾 却只能深埋心底 世界上最遥远的距离 不是 我不能说我想你 而是 彼此相爱 却不能够在一起 世界上最遥远的距离 不是 彼此相爱 却不能够在一起 而是明知道真爱无敌 却装作毫不在意 世界上最遥远的距离 不是 树与树的距离 而是 同根生长的树枝 却无法在风中相依 世界上最遥远的距离 不是 树枝无法相依 而是 相互了望的星星 却没有交汇的轨迹 世界上最遥远的距离 不是 星星之间的轨迹 而是 纵然轨迹交汇 却在转瞬间无处寻觅 世界上最遥远的距离 不是 瞬间便无处寻觅 而是 尚未相遇 便注定无法相聚 世界上最遥远的距离 是鱼与飞鸟的距离 一个在天 一个却深潜海底 So folks, here is something you can do to amuse yourselves. The easiest way to shorten the distance between two people from the longest one to the shortest one is to say: “Hey, I love you and let’s get married.”

The last sentence by 9494 is very good and to the point.
:em02:

Or better
When a couple feels this way, the distance between them can be both shortest and farthest.
